Ugenya politician Steve Mwanga yesterday returned to ODM and declared he will vie for Ugenya parliamentary seat on the party's ticket. Mwanga, who during the last elections decamped to KADDU after claiming that area MP James Orengo had allegedly rigged his way to Parliament said, he had gone back to ODM party after consultations.
Speaking at Saint Annes Sega Catholic Church in Ugenya constituency, Mwanga said his interest in the MP's seat had been re-ignited by the Ugenya people, who are yearning for a development conscious leader. “Though I was robbed off my victory in the last elections, Ugenya voters have found an opportunity to elect me to parliament,” said Mwanga amid applause from the crowd.
The politician vowed to jump start stalled projects in the constituency, and reiterated that he was an ODM life member number 57 and refuted propaganda spread by his rivals that he supported a different party from ODM. “We are the founder members of ODM," Mwanga and challenged, "whoever thinks otherwise, let him brace for a titanic battle in the forthcoming elections.”
The politician who was the Ford- Kenya director of elections said the country was in need of development conscious leaders and urged the electorate to scrutinise all candidates’ track records before casting their votes. Mwanga supported Lands minister, James Orengo’s bid for Siaya senate seat, saying the current Ugenya legislator was the most suitable candidate. Ugenya's ODM secretary Omondi Gero supported the return of Mwanga to ODM saying that the party was ready to work with him.
