MIKE Sonko to sue KIMUNYA

Thursday August 9, 2012-Makadara MP Mike Sonko has said he will sue Transport Minister Amos Kimunya and Kenya Railways Corporation for not compensating dwellers who will be evicted along the railway line.

Sonko said he will go to court today, if Kenya Railways goes ahead in evicting slum dwellers in Mukuru and Kibera slums.

Kimunya on Monday said that the corporation will evict 10,000 slum dwellers in the planned railway expansion programme and they will not be compensated.

Kimunya said the evictees illegally grabbed the land and there is no way the government can compensate land grabbers.

He said the only way the government can do is to relocate them to a different place but   not compensation.
