Marende's stern action on IEBC

Thursday August 2, 2012 - Speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Marende has directed two parliamentary committees to investigate the controversial Sh 3.9 billion tender for the supply of Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits.

In a stern directive, Marende ordered that the Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs and the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee probe the matter and report to the House within 14-days.

A section of Kenyans  and politicians have critised  the tendering process after the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission( IEBC)  disqualified 4 G Identity Solutions  following negative  reports  on its operations.

Marende said the issue is a matter of public interest and should be solved with urgency to nail the suspects behind the illegal tendering to Symphony Company which is associated with PNU activist Mary Wambui.
