Luhyas must UNITE or FAIL MISERABLY - Wetangula

Luhyas must UNITE or FAIL MISERABLY - Wetangula

Wednesday August 15, 2012 - All Luhyas from Western Kenya are doomed to fail unless they rally behind one candidate, Trade Minister Moses Wetangula has said.

Accompanied by Lands Assistant Minister Bifwoli Wakoli, Wetangula said the Luhya region vote will be weakened if the six who have expressed interest in the top seat run separately.

“The Luhya form 18 per cent of Kenya’s population but our individual strength will be shared among the six presidential hopefuls, hence reducing our chances of winning the seat,” Wetangula said during the opening of Nalondo Health Centre in his Sirisia Constituency.

The Minister said unity talks between him and Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa were ongoing although there are many forces that are fighting them and want them to fail of for selfish interests.

He urged Luhyas to desist from being used as a bridge by other communities who think they are superior to others and perceive themselves as the only one who can produce the Head of State.
