KIMUNYA again in Sh 55 billion SCANDAL!

KIMUNYA again in Sh 55 billion SCANDAL!

Sunday August 12, 2012 - It seems Transport Minister Amos Kimunya is a man surrounded by many corruption scandals. After being implicated with the disappearance of Sh 1.8 billion in the De La Rue saga, now the Minister is in another shocking scandal - Sh 55 billion airport scandal!

The proposed facility to be built on a land next to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is the one this controversy surrounds.

Kimunya instructed the Kenya Airport Authority board to reverse a decision to award the Sh 55 billion airport construction project to a Chinese company and start the process afresh.

According to a senior official at KAA who spoke to the DAILY POST on condition of anonymity said Kimunya reversed the decision since he wanted kickbacks from the company he wanted given the lucrative tender.

The Chinese firm that lost the lucrative tender has appealed against cancellation of the tender.

The KAA official said Kimunya who is also the Kipipiri lawmaker wanted 10 percent of the overall tender as a kickback for the company to be awarded the tender-this translates to another Sh 5.5 billion in Kimunya’s pocket.

Shouldn’t Kimunya be sacked with immediate effect! What do you think?
