HEY! Standard Group gets new CEO

Standard Group board has named Sam Shollei as the new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Paul Melly who was sacked for apparent poor leadership.

Shollei has 20 years corporate leadership experience in diversified sectors including media, banking, energy and consultancy. Currently, he is the Managing Director of Mwananchi Communication Limited, the Tanzania NMG subsidiary and previously headed the Business Development function at NMG.

He has also served as the General Manager at the NMG Uganda subsidiary, Monitor Publications Limited. Shollei started his career as a consultant with Price Waterhouse before joining the Petroleum industry as a senior accountant. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and BCom and a Certified Public Accountant – CPA (K).

He is married to Gladys Boss Shollei, the Chief Registrar at the Judiciary.
