From a GOAT herder to PRESIDENT: Jomo Kenyatta’s book is OUT

Wednesday August 22, 2012 - A new book that gives snippets and snapshots that shed some light on how the founding father Jomo Kenyatta ruled Kenya 34 years ago has been released.

The book titled Kenyatta’s cabinet, gives chronicles of drama, intrigues and triumphs of his 15-year reign from 1963 to 1978.

The book reveals how young Kenyatta had a troubled childhood having lost his parents at a tender age and how he was brought up by an uncle, Ngengi wa Magana.

Kenyatta later betrayed him by abandoning goats and sheep he was herding in Gatundu and left for Kikuyu. The book retraces the footsteps of the 10-year-old boy walking from Gatundu to Kikuyu for his first encounter with the white man who left a lasting impression.

It also analyses on how Kenyatta rose from a simple goat herder, to a scholar, a movie star, a prisoner, husband, a father and the Head of State.

The book is currently retailing at Sh 6,000 in major bookstores in Nairobi.
