Comptroller of State House Dr. Nelson Githinji has been kicked out of Statehouse under mysterious circumstances making Comptroller of State house the country’s most high risk public job.
Sources from the President’s residency confirmed that Dr Githinji was send packing on Friday morning after a small quarrel with the first lady Lucy Kibaki.
Dr Githinji was hired exactly one year ago to replace Prof. Nick Wanjohi who had been hounded out in a similar manner only to be rescued by the President who ordered the splitting of the comptroller’s job into two.
“Following separation of the office of Private Secretary/Comptroller, State House, Dr. Nelson Githinji has been appointed Comptroller State House, “read a statement by the PPS released on November 2 2010.
Prof Wanjohi was then appointed the President’s Private Secretary and his office relocated to Harambee house where Kibaki’s official office is located.
Yesterday sources exclusively told Kenyaradar that Dr Githinji has had some differences with the first lady which climaxed in the past two weeks leading to the sudden sacking.
His body guards and official car were immediately withdrawn in a dramatic incident that left Statehouse staff dumbfounded.
“We were shocked, she came out and walked into the comptroller’s office then shouted, you, you must leave,” said a security officer who witnessed the incident.
Earlier Dr Githinji failed to accompany the President to Australia where Kibaki had gone to attend world leaders.
While Kibaki was abroad, Dr Githinji was seen on TV participating in a joint press conference where the Chief of the General Staff Lt Gen Julius Karangi was briefing the media on the ongoing operation Linda Inchi from Nairobi.
His role at the press conference could only be guessed as it was unclear since it did not match his job description.
Prof. Wanjohi was however kicked out following the delay of the President’s laundry which angered the first lady.
Other previous casualties who have been shown the door under circumstances which are yet to be known are Matere Keriri,who was kicked out in 2004.Hyslop Ipu who succeeded him was also sacked in a huff in December 2008 before Prof. Wanjohi took over.
At an event in Mombasa the first lady snubbed an outstretched hand of Kereri who was reaching out to great her signaling the tension between them before she was sacked shortly.
Dr Githinji was the Head of Policy, Corporate and Government Relations for Coca Cola East and Central Africa before she landed the plum but now highly risky public appointment.

Further,several government officials have been banned from mamking non essential visitations to Statehouse due to their differences with the first lady.
Our source at Statehouse revealed that the first lady has banned Prime Minister Raila Odinga,Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Prof. George Saitoto from going to statehouse unless for purposes of attending cabinet meetinsg.
Previously Raila and Kibaki had a routine Wednesday meeting with the President weekly.Kalonzo was banned after he was mentioned in a Wiki leaks article disparaging the first lady.Saitoti the country’s most influential minister fell out with Lucy after the Sachangwana fire disaster.
