For Francis ole Kaparo, the authority bestowed upon him as National Assembly Speaker remains in him. This was well displayed yesterday during the UDM National Executive Council (NEC) and Parliamentary Group meeting when Kaparo shouted Order! Not surprisingly, the 20 lawmakers led by Eldoret North MP William Ruto heeded the call, lowered their tone and continued the discussions in a more orderly manner.

Speculation is rife that Prime Minister Raila Odinga may support Suleiman Shahbi as the ODM's candidate for governor of Mombasa in the next elections. This is likely to upset Kisauni MP Ali Hassan Joho who is also eyeing the seat. Mathira MP Ephraim Maina's failure to announce his intention to vie for the Nyeri County governor's seat during a wine and dine function he held at his home in Lusoi has unsettled many. Maina was expected to make a formal declaration of his intention during the function attended by over 60 civic leaders from Nyeri County. Instead, Maina wined and dined with the councillors, gave them money for their transport and said bye without making any major announcement.
