Heritage minister William ole Ntimama has told Eldoret North MP William Ruto to keep off Narok County politics.
Mr Ntimama said that leaders in the county were capable of deciding on the way forward and Mr Ruto’s intervention was uncalled for.
“I am asking Mr Ruto to first sort out issues in his United Democratic Movement party before telling our people to join him,” said Mr Ntimama.
The minister said that leaders in the county were yet to sit down to endorse candidates to vie for senator, governor or MP.
He scoffed at suggestions that former House speaker Francis ole Kaparo should replace him as the Maasai community spokesman.
“Leadership is not given on a silver platter. Someone has to show that he is qualified to hold any position,” said Mr Ntimama.
He was speaking at the weekend during a fundraiser at Emarti Secondary School in Transmara District.
His comments came a week after Mr Ruto visited Transmara to popularise UDM.
