President Kibaki witnesses swearing-in of Supreme Court judges



President Mwai Kibaki Friday at State House Nairobi witnessed the swearing-in of five newly appointed Supreme Court judges.
The Supreme Court judges were Mr. Justice Philip Tunoi, Mr. Justice Mohammed Ibrahim, Mr. Justice Prof. Jackton Ojwang, Mr. Justice Dr. Charles Smokin Wanjala and Lady Justice Njoki Ndung’u.
According to a statement from the Presidential Press Service, the swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the new Registrar of the High Court Gladys Boss Shollei.
Congratulating the judges, President Kibaki expressed optimism that they will dedicate themselves to the promotion of justice in the country and serve Kenyans without fear or favour.
The Head of State, once again, pointed out that with the ongoing reforms in key institutions, the country’s future is guaranteed.
“With all these reforms that we are implementing now, I am quite sure that the country will make good progress,” President Kibaki said.
The swearing-in ceremony was also witnessed by Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice-President Kalonzo Wako, several Cabinet Ministers, Chief of the Defence Forces General Julius Karangi, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Muthaura among other senior Government officials.
