The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has termed the move by the cabinet to propose amendments in the new constitution as sinister and ill motive.
LSK Chairman Kenneth Akide criticised the cabinet’s proposal to remove the requirement in the constitution that at least a third of MPs in the next parliament be women saying it was sending a wrong message about the Kenyan government adding that they would not allow it.

He was addressing members of LSK during a gala dinner and send off party of Attorney General Amos Wako at Leisure Lodge in Mombasa.
Akide argued that those who were proposing the said amendments were anti-reformists that showed a bad precedent.
‘The constitution must be implemented to the fullest. There is no room for amendments and we would not sit around and watch a few individuals destroying a law that we fought for many years, we will ensure that it is implemented to the fullest,’ he added.
He said that LSK would continue to be vigilant during the whole process of implementation of the constitution arguing that they would take full leadership if they saw the process was under risk.
At the same time, Akide also demanded the Government to name the next AG by Monday arguing that it was improper for the government to delay Wako’s successor saying it was critical for implementation process.
‘We don't understand why the government has delayed naming the next AG, we need to get Wako’s successor latest Monday, because the person is critical for the implementation of the constitution, and if he has run out of choices we are here,’ he declared.
And Wako assured that despite his retirement, he would continue to push for the implementation of the constitution as well as devolution and development of this country
He said that he would also put pressure on the realization and unity of East Africa to ensure that there was greater economic and social and political achievements to form the united state of Africa.
