Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka says they are consulting with other presidential aspirants to come up with one single candidate for the G7 political group.
Kalonzo said unity of those aspiring with PNU alliance is not only fundamental but essential if one of them is to ascend to the top position.
He said unity of PNU enabled the party to clinch the just concluded Kamukuji parliamentary seat.
Kalonzo was speaking in Embu last evening when he met with Embu leaders in a consultative meeting held at Isaac Walton hotel.
"There is nothing we cannot do if we are united" Kalonzo told the leaders who included political, religious and other key parsons in Embu County.
He urged the public to bear with them as they consult to come up with one candidate who will then be the torch bearer of their party.
The VP said he would not let the people down if he was to be preferred by others to go for the presidential seat.
He however said he would not want to force himself for the position though he has already declared his interest in the race for the president of the country.
Kalonzo said he was so far the best among the presidential contenders who have issues to work out like the maize scandal, Triton and other scandals.
He said there is a plan to remove the director of Kenya Anti corruption commission which he said he will personally resist in parliament.
Kalonzo urged other parliamentarians to stand up for Lumumba in parliament adding that they want him out for his boldness in fighting corruption.
Leaders had earlier implored the vice president to go for Martha Karua as his running mate which Kalonzo said would be decided by leaders at a later date.
Gachoka Member of Parliament Mutava Musyimi who has also declared his interest in running for the top seat in the country was conspicuously missing from the meeting.
Siakago Member of Parliament Lenny Kivuti and Manyatta Mp Emilio Kathuri who attended the meeting urged the VP to sell his agendas to the public for support.
Kivuti said political leaders from the province will be meeting soon to come up with a declaration where the province will be mobilized to vote for Kalonzo as a block.
