Corridors of Power

An MP from Rift Valley was stopped from leaving a popular drinking joint in Eldoret until he cleared a Sh6,000 bill he and his girlfriend had run up. The club bouncers were called to stop the MP from leaving after the barmen rejected his offer to settle the bill the next day. "My bill, unlike your taxes, are non-negotiable!" the barman told the Mheshimiwa who had no alternative but to wake up a cousin who lives in the outskirts of the town to come and bail him out. Only after the cousin came and cleared the bill was the MP allowed to leave the club.

 An MP from Kisii was overhead moaning the fact that he has not been able to enjoy his regular drink or sleep because of the tax issue. The man is frustrated by the fact that his constituents do not seem to understand he no longer has any "disposable" income to share with them as he is now "tax compliant".

 It is irrelevant whether or not Uhuru Kenyatta will stand trial at the International Criminal Court, according to some of his hardcore supporters. They believe that the upcoming confirmation of charges hearings will not stop the Gatundu South MP from contesting the top seat because he will only be facing criminal offences (which they say he is likely to be acquitted of) and not economic crimes and therefore can still contest in 2012!
 ===
 A well known civil society activist has repeatedly ignored his colleagues appeals to stop battering his wife. The man has also ignored interventions by some of his close friends who say his actions reflected badly on him as he is always in the media advocating for human rights. He does not seem to realize that his advocacy has to start at home with him respecting his wife's rights.
