Senior police officers at police headquarters are puzzled about one of their colleagues after Sh11 million was discovered in his secret bank account. Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere has since ordered investigations to ascertain the source of the cash. However, his men suspect the top cop has been receiving cash from his juniors to ‘help’ them be transferred to, or retained in, their preferred work station. The man is said to be receiving up to Sh100,000 to facilitate the transfer of an officer to areas perceived to be lucrative.

Journalists working for a local media house are a frustrated lot after a top media manager at their organisation instructed  editors to stop the airing of an investigative  piece on drug trafficking, which had taken over two months to produce. The reporters and their crew had spent days in the coastal towns of Mombasa and Malindi where they received damning information about politicians and top state officials who are involved the illicit business. When the journalists returned to the office, a political activist with connections in the top echelons of government called the media house boss instructing him not to run the story.  The man stopped the story without giving any reason.

We are informed that an undersecretary in a key ministry walked into his office on Tuesday morning to find the locks of his office changed. Our mole has informed us that the undersecretary has had protracted altercations with his Permanent Secretary, who got fed up and locked him out of his office. The undersecretary had to plead with the PS’s secretary to allow him access to his office since all his tools of trade were locked in. We are told the PS only gave instructions to his secretary to avail the keys to the new locks after intervention of a prominent politician.
