The curtain has finally fallen on the country's longest serving Attorney General Amos Wako.

On Saturday, top government officials bid him farewell in a party befitting a man of his stature and influence at carnivore restaurant.

A man who has presided over some of the greatest constitutional moments and challenges in the history of the country, Wako's two decade tenure at the State law office has finally come to a close after a tense last moments in office.

The ever smiling Wako took a bow with his head high saying God had been grateful to him for the twenty years he had served as the Chief government legal adviser.

Appointed at the height of Multi party struggle, Wako was all through a loyalist to his Boss and presided over the country's political transition.

Memories of his appointment are his keepsake, and he says his conscience is clear that he played his role in the best way he could.

When time to leave office came, friends and foes unanimously paid tribute to him and lauded his efforts in shaping the country's destiny throughout his tenure.

From Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, to foreign affairs minister Moses Wetangula, House Speaker Kenneth Marende to Director of Public Prosecutions Kerioko Tobiko to Health Minister Beth Mugo, they gathered at Carnivore Restaurant and danced the night away in an elaborate fete in honour of Wako.

There was even time to crack a few jokes and those who have known him for long had a few things to remind him of, from his smile even in times of hardships, they kept the crowd that included not just MPs but also cooperate heads and the who is who in Nairobi business circles entertained.

Wako is now gone, the onus is on the new Attorney General Githu Muigai to continue from where he left.

Farewell thee well Amos Sisilwa Wako.
