Political gossip

Share/Save/Bookmark  A Cabinet minister caused a stir among Kenyan diplomats when he checked himself into a hospital. The man, who was on an official visit to the US refused the assistance of the nearest Kenyan diplomats who was available at the time and insisted on waiting for the arrival of a senior diplomatic officer whom he trusts. Only then did he feel free and comfortable enough to undergo several tests and examinations. He emerged from the hospital after a few hours.

 The PM may not know this but there are some people in his office who are using his name to curry favours with businessmen, politicians or anyone who has business with the PM's office. One such person has managed to get himself a 'gift package' that includes gym membership at a five-star hotel which is managed by an Austrian national who has been accused of illegally hiring foreigners. The manager has since been using this connection to intimidate anyone who questions his decisions.

Senior officers at the Ministry of Energy have raised concerns over alleged substandard transformers being supplied by an Asian businessman who is reportedly related to fugitive businessman Yagnesh Devani. According to our mole, officials have been concerned with complaints from power consumers over constant power black outs and outages in various parts of the country especially in Nairobi.

Military tracks have in recent weeks been spotted heading to the rural home in Machakos county of a serving senior military officer. The locals who have been treated to clouds of dust and other annoyances are wondering why the military man cannot use the same authority he is using to ferry building material to his home to fix the dilapidated road the trucks are using. The locals have vowed to teach the soldier— who is reported to be harbouring politicial ambitions— a lesson during the next elections.
