Share/Save/Bookmark Mutito MP Kiema Kilonzo was all set to address a press conference in Parliament Buildings to express support for Dr Willy Mutunga's nomination as the country's next Chief Justice. He had even lined up two MPs to flank him and voice support for the CJ-nominee. Butjust moments before he started addressing the press conference, the two MPs melted away after they each received a phone call from someone.

A Court of Appeal judge is worried that he will soon be identified as the source of the documents which some lawyers were using to discredit the Judicial Service Commission's nominations of the Chief Justice.  We are told that some of the lawyers have now handed the documents to an MP who is planning to unleash the same once Parliament starts debating the nominees. The judge is reportedly the source of a document which the MP claims will raise doubts about one of the nominees.

President Kibaki has reportedly declined a proposal to reshuffle the Cabinet as requested by Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Those in the know say the President is opposed to the appointment into the Cabinet of an MP from the Rift Valley. Raila had proposed a major reshuffle which would have affected 10 ODM ministries and nearly 14 assistant ministerial positions. Kibaki, our moles tell us, prefers a minor re-shuffle to fill in the vacant positions. A much anticipated announcement following the meeting between the two principals has yet to be made.

A senior politician from the Coast has become a regular fixture at one of the city's up-market entertainment spot. The man is never alone but is always accompanied by a young woman with whom they spend hours dancing and conversing. The thing is, the young women are always different and never the same one twice in a row!
