Share/Save/Bookmark The Immigration ministry has launched investigations into claims that the boss of a five-star hotel based in Nairobi has illegally been hiring foreigners to fill positions which Kenyans are qualified to hold. The Tourism ministry raised the alarm over the manner in which the Austrian boss was handling his junior staff amid reports that he has fired three Kenyan managers and replaced them with foreigners. A group of MPs attending a conference at Windsor hotel recently had a pleasant shock when they were shown a construction site nearby where former Makadara MP Dick Wathika was putting up an impressive residence. Some of the MPs wished they were not in Parliament as they were always perpetually broke as they always had to the meet the financial demands of their electorate.

A former wheeler-dealer who professes to be a born again Christian has fallen into tough times. The man hosted a birthday bash and hired a group of professional strippers to entertain his guests despite concerns expressed by his wife. The wife was not amused at having strippers in their matrimonial home and became even more angry when the man got roaring drunk to the point of engaging her in a loud argument about the showgirls.

After the slight embarrassment of having a section of the crowd walk away when he stood to address the Uhuru Park prayer meeting addressed by Wiliam Rutp and Uhuru Kenyatta a few weeks ago, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was not about to attempt the same in Nyeri. We are told that Kalonzo threw protocol to the wind and decided to speak before Uhuru addressed the rally. The protocol in most rallies and so called prayer meetings is to have the person considered the most senior (in political hierarchy if nothing else) to speak last and for the others—including the host— to speak before. In this case, Kalonzo opted to let Uhuru speak last because he was the 'host" even though the rally was not being held in Uhuru's constituency.
