A US marine of Kenyan origin was shot dead by suspected gangsters’ days after he arrived in Nairobi for holidays. Antony Ndung’u, 41, was killed in the wee hours of Wednesday morning as he dropped off two of his former classmates in Kawangware.According to city police, Ndung'u had drinks with his two friends Zakaria Kang’ethe and Abdi Kalila at a night club along Kimathi Street before he volunteered to drop them off. Four gangsters ambushed them near Muthumo Area as they were driving to Kawangware.
According to police, the gangsters, whose motive of the attack was not immediately established sprayed Ndungu's car with bullets before speeding off towards Uthiru. “He was shot in the right shoulder and it appears he lost control of the wheel and landed into a ditch,” said a senior policeman His friends took him to Thogoto Mission Hospital but he was pronounced dead at 7am while being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.
