Consumers Federation of Kenya Secretary General Stephen Mutoro, now says his life is in danger.
Mutoro who recorded a statement with the police Monday claimed he has been receiving anonymous threatening calls which he believes are linked to his crusade against the escalating cost of living.
Consumer federation of Kenya has been on the forefront of organizing street demonstrations in Nairobi and Mombasa to protest the rising fuel price and the high cost of living.
Mutoro who was accompanied by his lawyer Paul Muite claimed the a caller warned him against street demonstrations threatening him that he would face death if he continues.
He however said that he will not be cowed by the threats, adding that the demonstrations will continue until the prices are brought down.
Mutoro promised to make a major statement on Wednesday on the next course of action.
Muite said street protests are lawful and even guaranteed in the Kenyan constitution and that no one should be threatened for picketing.
He said even after the government slashed taxes on diesel and kerosene the pump prices are yet to come down.
The consumer group last Tuesday led demonstrations to protest the rising cost of fuel and food in the country.
