Marende referred the matter back to the two principals
Politicians who support the president in his controversial nominations of holders of four key constitutional offices are now bracing themselves to take onspeaker Kenneth Marende on Tuesday.
MP's allied to the party of National Unity led by deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta are promising to overturn the ruling by Speaker Kenneth Marende that gagged parliament from debating the four nominees and want the tenure of the current Chief Justice Evan Gicheru which lapses on Februar 27 extended as the county awaits the new office bearer.
The MPs who were speaking  Saturday at the homecoming party of Kirinyaga Central MP elect Joseph Gitari took on Marende whom they accused of playing to the hands of ODM.
The legislators claim the ruling made on Thursday that stopped parliament from debating the presidential nominees was politically engineered.
The two house committees tasked with handling the report submitted their findings with the justice committee declaring the appointments constitutional while the finance committee brought in a negative verdict declaring the nominations unlawful.
However Marende ruled that the president unconstitutionally in making the nominations and referred the matter back to the two principals for the process to start afresh.
In a quick rejoinder, the president maintained that he had followed the law ion making the appointmernts and said parliament cannot intepret the law, a task he said should be left to the court.
