we Forget – Kumbuka!
Over the decades poor record keeping has created a form of Kenyan amnesia about
grand corruption. What actually happened? Who was actually involved? How much
was really lost?
In trying to keep up with the latest political twists many Kenyan governance
observers have complained that it is all too easy for major issues to fall
through the cracks. In a way the deluge of scandal creates the possibility of
impunity for the perpetrators of corruption. The cost of impunity is borne by
the Kenyan public, in foregone economic and development spending.
The Kumbuka (Remember) series is published monthly by Mars Group Kenya as a
living archive to enable Kenyans, the media and observers of the governance
scene to do their very important work of watch-dogging the Kenyan State and its
officials, advocating for an end to impunity and for greater accountability to
the Citizens of Kenya. We hope you find this series useful.
