Kanu has won a civic seat in Baringo North after its candidate’s opponents dropped out of the race.
Mr Paul Tuikong garnered 962 votes in the Wednesday poll. UDM’s Sylivina Chepyegon got 413 votes and Ms Maria Rotich of Narc-Kenya 13.
The Independent Interim Electoral Commission (IIEC) had on Monday sought police intervention after Ms Chepyegon and Ms Rotich pulled out of the race.
Inconsequential
Baringo North constituency IIEC coordinator Samson Mayo said the move to pull out was inconsequential as their names had been printed on the ballot papers.
In the Akoret ward by-election in Baringo East constituency, UDM’s Omari Kapeitui Kukat won with 246 votes.
UDM’s Said Hassan Mohammed clinched Bahari constituency’s Roka ward with 971 votes against ODM’s Shadrack Nyiro Charo who got 555 votes.
In the Matuga constituency’s Mwaluphamba civic ward by-election, Mr Chirima Mwamwenda of Shirikisho Party won after beating seven other candidates.
At Msambweni constituency’s Kikoneni ward by-election, Ford-Kenya’s Kitsui Khalifan Hamadi won with 527 votes.
