President to address the nation

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 3 - President Mwai Kibaki will on Tuesday afternoon address the Kenyan public ahead of the August 4 referendum on the proposed Constitution.

The address will be aired live on Capital FM at 1300GMT.

It will run simultaneously on other radio and television stations.

“His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki will today, Tuesday 3rd August 2010, make a radio and Television address to the nation at 4pm,” a statement from the Presidential Press Service said.

The President has been at the forefront in the recent months in drumming up support for the proposed Constitution.

In his last two rallies in Kitui and Kiambu, the President called on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers for the vote, and remain peaceful.
