KARA AIDS Forum

People living with HIV/AIDS are still being stigmatized, despite awareness campaigns. The Kenya Alliance of Residents Assocaition (KARA) is conducting a series of forums to sensitize Kenyans on the need to respect Human Rights even for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The violation of Human Rights is rampant, and more so among people living with HIV/AIDS. This is mainly because most people do not know their rights. Some of the rights that are the most commonly violated include the right to work, to information and to association.

With the passing of the new Constitution the Bill of Rights will be enhanced, but a good law will not help unless Kenyans, including those living with HIV/AIDS are aware of their rights, and how to fight for them.

People living with HIV/AIDS are being encouraged to join support groups, as this will encourage them in their battle against the often fatal disease.
