Kalonzo donates 200 000 for 'YES'

There is no parallel secretariat to the one that was recently launched to coordinate the YES campaigns for the forthcoming constitution referendum, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said.

Mr. Musyoka clarified that contrary to what some people perceive to be a separate secretariat from the central one, there might be other groups that supplement the work of the central secretariat.

The Vice President was speaking Friday when he made an extensive tour of the YES secretariat based at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) where he familiarized himself with operations of the centre.

Mr. Musyoka who was conducted by Prof. Peter Kagwanja the co-coordinator of the YES campaigns praised the efforts made by the secretariat so far.

The secretariat office is composed of operations and logistics centre, media section, and program office and finance and administration sections.

During the tour the VP gave a personal donation of Kshs. 200,000 towards the operations of the secretariat.

He appealed to other well-wishers to contribute generously towards the Yes secretariat kitty in order to facilitate the YES campaigns.

The VP abhorred the culture of violence and said the YES team will not engage in hooliganism and will continue to respect the views of the NO camp including religious organizations.

Mr. Musyoka used the occasion to congratulate the winner of the South Mugirango seat Mr.Mason Nyamweya for being elected during the just concluded by-elections.

He said Kenyans will respect the decision made by the people of South Mugirango to elect Mr. Nyamweya as the move expressed the confidence
