NEW PSs

Four new acting Permanent Secretaries have been appointed to replace those suspended on Saturday over corruption allegations.

They are Mr Andrew Mondoh, Mr Wilfred Ndolo, Ambassador Magdalene Wambua and Mr Kiritu Wamae.

Mr Mondoh was the director of administration in Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s office and replaces Dr Mohammed Isahakia. Mr Ndolo, who was the director of resettlement of Internally Displaced People will be in Special Programmes.

Ms Wambua will be in the Education ministry while former North Eastern Provincial Commissioner Mr Wamae will be in Agriculture.

The four received their letters from head of public service Francis Muthaura on Wednesday and they will act in places of Education Permanent Secretary Karega Mutahi, Romano Kiome (Agriculture), Mohamed Isahakia (Office of the PM) and Ali Mohamed (Special Programmes).

President Mwai Kibaki on Saturday suspended four Permanent Secretaries mentioned adversely in the subsidized maize scheme audit report and the free primary education programme to allow for an independent probe.

He said the officials should vacate office for three months to allow for proper, independent and accurate investigations into the allocation and application of funds under the two programmes.
