Kethi given more time to study IEBC documents

A case filed by lawyer Kethi Kilonzo seeking to compel the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to give her documents it used against her in court  will be mentioned in a week’s time.
Justice David Majanja  made the order yesterday after Kethi told him that she has received some documents from IEBC but she needs more time to go through them.
Kethi wants the IEBC to give her  with all documentary evidence used during the hearing of a case on her nomination to contest the Makueni by-election.
The IEBC told last week told the court that it is willing to give Kethi the documents that were produced by witnesses who testified before the Dispute Resolution Committee.
However, the commission said it  cannot hand over some documents to Kethi because they are with the CID.
Kethi wants the commission to give her a  certified copies of former President Kibaki's acknowledgment slip and the the distribution list of all acknowledgment slip booklets.
She also wants a certified copy of the booklet of acknowledgement slip produced by IEBC during proceedings before the tribunal and a statement on oath detailing the chain of custody of the booklet, the date and report of its alleged theft.
 Justice Majanja ordered  the IEBC to furnish her with a copy of the register of voters without biometric and a copy of the principal register of voters used at the NCC social hall in the march 4 polls.
The judge  also directed the commission to give her registers used in  Langata constituency at St Mary’s and Ngong Forest polling stations.
IEBC has also been directed to give her reports submitted to  the Director of Voter registration immaculate Kassait from  IEBC  to provide shall provide Kethi ,, with reports submitted to immaculate Kassait from the 290 constituencies registration officers,
 Justice Majanja yesterday directed  parties to go back to court on August 19 to confirm compliance of the court order.
