Mwau to contest Makueni top seat

SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY WAMBUA KAVILA
PICK party boss Harun Mwau will contest the Makueni senatorial by-elections slotted for July 22.
This as disclosed yesterday by one of his aides, Davies Musau, said Mwau has re-activated his campaign machine.
"Initially he was reluctant but supporters from Makueni visited him in Nairobi and convinced him to make a second stab at the seat," Musau said in Machakos town yesterday.
Mwau lost the race to Mutula Kilonzo and retreated to a quiet life in the business world.
Musau said a team of campaigners is on the ground working in preparation for the Pick party boss' official launch later this month.
He said residents trust that Mwau will attract foreign investors to Makueni using his business connections.
The Pick party boss had filed a petition challenging the election of Mutula and accused the IEBC of failing to supply him with the senatorial results in the Makeni polls.
Others who have shown interest in the seat include Philip Kaloki of wiper.
County representatives from Makueni have urged Mutula's daughter Kethi to contest but she declined.
