JaVale McGee Vine’d himself giving $100 to someone sleeping on the sidewalk (Video)

By
On the off chance that you didn't have your eyes glued to JaVale McGee's Twitter account at around 7 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, here's what the always colorful Denver Nuggets center shared with the world — a six-second video of him holding a $100 bill, tucking it under the blanket of what appears to be a sleeping homeless man, then absconding after his act of good will:
I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this, to be honest with you. On one hand, I think it's cool thatJaVale's response to coming across someone who could surely use a C-note more than he could is to peel one off. On the other, making a point of filming yourself performing an act of charity and then sharing it with your 117,000+ Twitter followers makes the whole enterprise seem at least a little less selfless, right?
Then again, maybe the pro of simply doing something nice for someone outweighs any self-promotional con; then again, if the point of this is for us to walk away thinking, "Man, JaVale's a really good guy whose acts of kindness in no way seem self-serving or calculated," then this is kind of a swing and a miss, right?
While I'm wrangling with these sorts of questions, though, McGee's wondering something else:
Amid the multiple crummy (and, for all I know, possibly accurate) responses you'd expect that question to engender, there was this one, which I loved:
Now that would be a story worth writing, reading and filming. We'd need more than six seconds to tell it, though.
