Corridors of Power

THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY POLITICAL DESK
An MP from Eastern Kenya making who is making his parliamentary debut has been playing a game of hide and seek with his wife since he made it into the August house. The man, who has yet to acquire a residence in the city left his wife and family at their matrimonial home as he is being put up by a relative. What he did not tell his wife is that he is actually living with a new found love. When the wife got wind of this, she came to the city, found out where the man has been living and reportedly camped outside waiting for him to arrive. It seemed the man was tipped off and has not showed up at the house. Instead, he is one of several MPs who have found refuge at one of the hotels in downtown Nairobi.

A shadowy cartel of businessmen are waiting in the wings to pounce on the Numerical Machining Complex which was behind the Nyayo car. The cartel is said to be behind a revived attempt to privatise the complex and are positioning themselves to take control once this happens. They have gone to the extent of promising some members of the former management team a share in the organization if the privatization process succeeds. It seems their plan has already been set in motion as already a dossier has been prepared alleging impropriety, nepotism and sabotage by some of the management team.

A senior official working at the Efficiency and Monitoring Unit which was formerly under the PM's office and is now a department in the office of the Deputy President William Ruto has been rendered jobless for his rudeness. Our moles at BP Shell House said a committe led by a former North Rift MP and a South Rift Senator invited the man to give them an update on the department's performance. However the man allegedly refused saying he was only answerable to a Cord-led government. He was quickly shown the door but has since been haunting the corridors of Shell BP House hoping he can apologize for his actions and be reinstated.

Our MPs seem to know no bounds when it comes to their welfare. They are now seeking for more money to be allocated to Parliament claiming they need to hire the services of publicists and other spin doctors to manage the negative publicity they have been getting for demanding higher salaries than those set by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission. During a budget hearing yesterday some MPs complained that it was taking too long for their offices to be completed and several of them have been forced to work from their cars, hotel lounges and other such places. One of the women MPs said she has now been forced to carry 'her office' in a huge black bag which she likened to that of a preacher's !
