ODM Chairman HENRY KOSGEI SHOCKED as his son endorses UHURU/RUTO’s candidate

Monday February 18, 2013 - Residents of Nandi County were on Sunday stunned, after ODM chairman Henry Kosgei’s son, Alex Kosgei, endorsed his father’s rival for the Nandi Senate seat.

Junior Kosgei shocked the public at a Jubilee rally in Kilibwoni, Nandi, when he threw his support behind his father’s rival, Stephen Sang, who is running for the seat on a URP ticket. Alex is running for the Emgwen parliamentary seat on a URP ticket.

Alex told the crowd that the region needs youthful politicians who are technologically savvy and energetic to steer development and improve livelihoods.

“Leadership in these times requires youthful leaders who have the skills and ideas to work under the devolved system of governance. That is why I choose to throw my weight behind my age mate and not my father,” Alex Kosgey said amid cheers from thousands of Jubilee supporters who had turned up for the rally.

He said leaders of his father’s age group should retire in politics since they have nothing new to offer to this country.

Kosgei senior is facing stiff competition from Mr Sang, a brilliant lawyer young enough to be his son.

The 37-year-old technocrat expects to ride on the popularity of URP leader William Ruto to claim the seat.

Alex also told an enthusiastic crowd that this year is a Jubilee year, expressing confidence that Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta will out rightly form the next government on March 5th.
