Peter Kenneth launches bid for presidency (Otuoma & Oparanya join him)

NAIROBI, KENYA: Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth on Sunday launched his presidential bid in a ceremony held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
He will be running on a Kenya National Congress (KNC) party ticket.
Kenneth has been the Gatanga MP since 2002 and has been keen on his constituency development and specifically the management of the Constituency development fund (CDF).
The MP who is also the Planning Assistant minister highlighted tribalism and graft as the major issues hurting Kenya and vowed to ensure they are non existent if elected president come March 4, 2013.
“I will strive to see that no Kenyan is above the law or below the law either. Crime will not be tolerated,” he said.
Launching his manifesto, Kenneth highlighted five fundamentals which he will be committed to achieve in his five years as president.
The 47-year-old presidential aspirant says he will invest in National security, Youth empowerment, Education, Infrastructure and Food security.
He said that Infrastructure is a key issue in the development of this country and therefore will open up roads for people to take advantage of resources in areas currently impossible to access.
“Accessibility to some of the prime beauty of the world, Maasai Mara, the coastal region and the lake basin must be enhanced,” he said.
On National security, he will ensure every Kenyan is enabled to invest.
Matters health care, Kenneth promised to ensure that in the next 5 years, each of the 45 counties has a referral hospital. In addition, the hospitals will have enough doctors, be well equipped with Machines and medicine.
He said he is committed to ensure quality education for every child as this is key in propelling the country towards achieving vision 2030.
He thus will see that each county has a National polytechnic to cater for the 70 per cent KCPE candidates who do not make it to Public Universities.
Present during the launch were among others, Planning Minister Wycliffe Oparanya, Local Government Minister Paul Otuoma and the Germany ambassador to Kenya Margit Hell Wig-Botte.
