The Muslims for Human rights head of programmes, Yusuf Lule has resigned from the lobby group following serious fighting over the move to implicate cabinet minister, Chirau Ali Mwakwere over the hate speech.
Lule differed with a top official of the organisation and resigned.
Mr Lule resigned at the end of October after serious conflict with one top official of the lobby group. The Muslim for human rights is one of the heavily funded lobby groups at the Coast.
Mr Lule who was also deputized the chief executive officer, Khalid Hussein tendered his resignation following the disagreement in the lobby group with the move to prosecute cabinet minister, Chirau Ali Mwakwere.
“I had serious conflict with one top official of the organisation over the move to prosecute the cabinet minister, I decided to tender my resignation and watch the activities at a distance,” he said.
The Muslims for human rights attempted to prosecute the cabinet minister, Chirau Ali Mwakwere but later dropped the charge after the minister made a public apology and promised to preach peace in the country.
After the minister made the public apology, a section of the top officials of the organization demanded the prosecution of the cabinet minister.
The chief executive officer of the organization, Khalid Hussein said there were issues that emerged between Mr Lule and top officials, which would be sorted out.
“I was out of the country and have just arrived in Kenya, I have called Mr Lule to come to my office for discussions,” he said.
Sources said the move to implicate the cabinet minister was hatched by disgruntled top officials of the lobby group.
The sources said even after the minister made the public apology, some members of the lobby group wanted the Matuga MP be charged in court.
