Gor Mahia reclaim top spot

By Gilbert Wandera

Gor Mahia and Tusker won their matches as the title chase in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) went a notch higher on Sunday.
Gor crushed Muhoroni Youth 4-0 at City Stadium while Tusker hit Western Stima 2-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
With that win Gor go up the standings displacing AFC Leopards who had won 4-2 on Saturday to claim top spot.
Dan Serunkuma put Gor Mahia ahead after just 45 seconds with a deft touch on an Ali Abondo cross from the right wing. He added a second in the 25th minute and wrapped up his hat trick with a late goal in the 84th minute.
Christopher Wekesa was the scorer of Gor's fourth goal in the 50th minute.
Muhoroni had only one chance in the match when Collins Netto failed to score in the 68th minute after he was stopped by Solomon Nasio.
After a barren half in a Tusker Premier League played out at the Moi International Sports Centre on Sunday 4 November 2012, Champions Tusker needed an early brace in the second half to see off Western Stima 2-0.
At Kasarani, Tusker had to wait for the second half to get their win coming after last Sunday's 1-0 loss to Gor Mahia.
After being locked to a 0-0 draw in the first half coach Robert Matano threw in Kenneth Wendo for Dennis Mukaisi, Obadiah Ndege for Jospeh Mbugi and Patrick Kagogo for Joseph Emeka very early in the second half.

Within two minutes of being in the pitch, Ndege was at the right place at the right time to rise up high and connect to David Nyanzi cross with a header that opened the account for Tusker.
Four minutes later, Ndege was at it again when he latched on to a cross from substitute Kagogo.
With the win, Tusker has now moved off third spot in the league to land at the 57 point mark to settle at second spot by sending overnight league leaders AFC Leopards down to third on goal difference.
In another match Thika United were held to a barren draw by Chemelil.
