G7 shares my dream, says Ngilu

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2012 - 00:00 -- BY ELIAS YAA
WATER minister Charity Ngilu has defended her coalition with the G7 Alliance, saying the group will liberate the country from poverty. The Narc presidential hopeful said the policies of the G7 match her ‘five basics’ that she wants to implement in the country.
Addressing a rally at Mkapuni in Rabai on Saturday after a tour of water projects in the area, Ngilu said the ICC cases facing Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto should be considered a national problem and not a community one.
“The G7 I know has its problems but their agenda matches my five basic issues which I promise to address and that’s why I found it convenient to coalesce with them,” she said.
Ngilu, who was flanked by Mutito MP Kiema Kilonzo and former Kibwezi MP Grace Mwewa, further said her party is ready to partner with parties that aim at driving Kenya ahead.
“Narc wants to improve the face of Kenya. We want to make sure that there is equity in the country. We want to make sure that everyone in this country has land ownership documents,” Ngilu said.
Kiema called on Kenyans not to seek revenge by condemning its leaders to the International Criminal Court. He said the Narc-G7 coalition is a strong force to reckon with and asked Kenyans to forgive it’s Hague-bound leaders and forge ahead as a country.
“We need Kenyans to reconcile and the first step is to make sure as a nation we forgive those who are faced with cases at the ICC. If someone wrongs you, you should forgive them rather than condemn them,” he said.
