A row is simmering at Utalii House after Tourism Minister Dan Mwazo confronted KTB managing director Muriithi Ndegwa early this week and evicted him from office to pave way for his successor Jacinta Mbithi. Our mole at the KTB offices say the Minister had appointed Mbithi new MD but head of civil service Francis Kimemia overturned it when Mwazo was out of the country. When Mwazo returned he walked straight to Ndegwa’s office and handed him a letter in person asking him to leave. Corridors of Power is watching the unfolding drama.

Soon after daring the devil by rescuing MRC leaders from jail, Makadara MP Mike Sonko has plunged into yet another controversy. This time it is about Haroun Okal, that parliamentary employee who accused the MP of assault and then dropped the charges in a span of 24 hours. We are informed the MP was summoned by the CID on Wednesday to give his side of the story and to furnish investigators with tapes detailing Okal’s demand for money. The MP wrote the statement but refused to hand over the tapes. He told the police he doesn’t want to cause misery to the elderly employee who has just a year left on his contract. The cops are not amused and are considering taking the MP to court for complicity in a felony.

Mazingira Greens Party of Kenya, the brainchild of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Wangari Maathai, is on the verge of collapse due to mismanagement. The party’s members have complained that the party is not being run from its official headquarters in South C - which was also Maathai’s residence. The party’s offices in South C are always under lock and key and highly guarded. Members say the party is paying rent for a ‘ghost’ office that no one knows its location. The secretary general has also been ignoring calls from branch leaders. The members now want the IEBC and the Registrar of Political Parties to move in and either restore the party or declare it officially closed.
