1 dead, scores injured in Garissa grenade attack

sAn Administration Police corporal succumbed to injuries on Sunday after suspected Al-Shabaab militants hurled a grenade on the roof of a structure in the Anti-Shifta AP camp in Garissa.
Five Administration Police officers were injured in the attack.
The iron sheet structure is usually used on Sunday as a prayer house by officers and their families.
Sporadic gunfire was also reported in the area in the wake of the attack.
Administration Police Spokesman Massoud Mwinyi told Daily Nation that scores were injured in the attacks.
Kenya Red Cross indicated on its twitter handle that 11 casualties were taken to the Garissa district hospital, with three in need of air evacuation.
In July, 14 people were killed and 66 others injured in simultaneous attacks on the African Inland Church (AIC) and Our Lady of Consolata Catholic Church in Garissa Town. (READ: 14 killed in Garissa church attacks)
