William RUTO and UHURU Kenyatta will win in the FIRST ROUND

Sunday October 28, 2012 - The party associated with Presidential hopeful William Ruto has said that a coalition with Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) will win the March 4, 2013 general elections on first round, edging out Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) presidential candidate Prime Minister Raila Odinga who will be making a final attempt to rule the country.

United Republic Party (URP) spokesman Adan Duale said his party would form a coalition with a party that share the same fundamentals, meaning TNA, effectively locking out the PM out of possible coalition with URP.

“The party that we shall form a coalition with must be the party that understands the ICC equation since it is fundamental to the political process now and the future,” Duale who is also Dujis MP said.

Duale also said other consideration was the numbers a prospective coalition partner would bring to the table to ensure an “overwhelming first round win.”

“Since we already have 18 safe URP counties and about 80 constituencies in the Rift Valley, Coast and North Eastern, we shall only accept somebody who will bring at least 15 counties and 10 counties to ensure we easily sail through,” the MP said.

Duale’s assertions come as other MPs allied to Ruto indicated their deal with Kenyatta was as good as done. To seal the deal, a bonding retreat has been planned in Mombasa for elders from the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities this week to bless the pre-election pact.

Presidential hopefuls Uhuru Kenyatta and  William Ruto are among four Kenyan suspects facing crimes against humanity charges at The Hague for their suspected role in the 2007/08 post-election violence that claimed around 1,133 people and over half a million displaced. Others are former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura and radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang.

The two leaders (Uhuru and Ruto) have vowed to form a pre-election pact in order to win the forthcoming general election.

According to a credible source who is close to the two MPs, Ruto has agreed to become Uhuru‘s running mate and Leader of Majority in Parliament.
