Thursday October 18, 2012 - Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale has dismissed Luhya Council of Elders as a bunch of political thugs pursuing personal gains.
Speaking at his Constituency on Wednesday, Khalwale who is a foot soldier of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi said the elders are not elected to represent anyone and their sentiments should be ignored.
“The elders have been using the council for selfish gains for a long time and it is time they are told to stop misleading residents of Western Kenya,” Khalwale said.
The MP was reacting to reports attributed to the Forum’s Vice Chairman Burudi Nabwera, that United Democratic Forum(UDF)Presidential hopeful Musalia Mudavadi ignored the elders advice not to leave ODM. They added that he should support Raila’s bid because Western Province will support Raila and abandon him at the ballot.
“Nabwera and his compatriots in the Luhya Elders Forum are not elected leaders and speak for nobody. They are fond of hopping from offices of one Presidential candidate to the other during election times,” Khalwale said.
“Kenyans in general and Luhyas in particular should not pay attention to what the elders are saying about the leadership of the region,” he added.
Khalwale expressed overwhelming confidence that DPM Musalia Mudavadi will form the next government after President Kibaki’s exit in March next year.
