RAILA and MUDAVADI battle out for LUHYA vote this weekend

Thursday October 18, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi will this weekend visit Western Kenya to battle out for the Luhya swing vote.

The PM’s 2 -day visit comes at a time when his ODM Vice Chairman and trusted ally Webuye MP Alfred Sambu ditched the Orange Party for Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi UDF.

ODM Kakamega County Chairman David Malala on Wednesday said the PM’s tour will take him to Bungoma and Kakamega counties where he will hold a series of public rallies.

He said the climax of the tour will be the homecoming party of the Bukura ward councillor Reuben Nyangweso who was elected in September 17 by election.

Internal sources said the PM will use the said tour to downplay Sambu’s defection and identify an ODM pointman in the area.

Other sources said the tour is meant to disapprove Mudavadi’s remarks that local ODM members are likely to defect to UDF this weekend.
