Tragedy as pupils perish in inferno

By Standard Digital Reporter
At least eight pupils are feared dead after a dormitory catches fire in Asumbi Girls Primary School in Homabay County.
The pupils who were in for holiday tuition are believed to be class seven and eight.
The Wednesday night inferno comes after the stern warning from Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo on holiday tuition.
Mutula insists that children should be allowed to rest during holidays.
Initial reports indicate that the pupils were locked inside the dormitory and could not get escape when the fire broke out.
The report further claims the victims of the tragedy were a group of orphaned children residing in the school as they had nowhere to go during the August holiday.
