SHAME: The NHIF saga continued with the new CEO

Thursday August 9, 2012 - Details have emerged that acting Chief Executive Officer of National Hospital Insurance Fund Adan A Adan recommended the employment of his wife immediately after landing at NHIF.

The CEO, who has been in the office for hardly three months, recommended the hiring of his wife, Habib Ali Maalim, together with other people believed to be his relatives and went ahead and signed the formal forms for approval, even suggesting their grades and placement in the Fund.

When confronted by journalist on Wednesday, the CEO said his wife name was struck off of the list of those to be recruited because of her link to him.

“Yes Habib is my wife. She is a qualified senior nurse. We cancelled her name when we discovered her name was in the list,” Adan said but he did explain how her name got on the final list bearing his signature and at the number one position.

The CEO was angry by the revelations and wondered why Kenyans are implicating him on this employment scandal and other senior employees have employed their relatives.

“Aren’t Somalis qualified for these jobs? Why are you not mentioning the rest,” Adan fumed.

Apart from Habib, others who are recruited on Adan’s authority are Margaret Wanjiru Kirima, Ann Njeri Mukuri, Grace Wairimu Kang’ethe, Constatine Oile, Ahmed Kher Abdi and Yusuf Ali Shire.

When will this corruption end in our public offices?

  1. An outstanding share! I've just forwarded this onto a co-worker who was doing a little homework on this. And he in fact ordered me dinner simply because I stumbled upon it for him... lol. So allow me to reword this.... Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending time to discuss this matter here on your web page.
