Kibaki sends Eid wishes to Muslims Written By:PPS, Posted: Sat, Aug 18, 2012 President Kibaki appealed to all Muslims in the country to pray for peace and unity as elections draw closer President Mwai Kibaki Saturday sent a message of goodwill to the Kenyan Muslim community as they celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr. In a statement, President Kibaki noted that Eid is an expression of joy at having fulfilled Allah's command of discipline and piety. The head of state also urged all Kenyans to forget all their differences and make this day a day of forgiveness and reconciliation. He appealed to all Muslims in the country to pray for peace and unity especially at this time when the country is approaching the electioneering period. The Head of State congratulated the Muslim brethren for their dedication to fasting and prayer during the foregoing Holy month of Ramadhan. On Friday President Kibaki sent Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the Transitional Federal Government and the people of Somalia calling on them to remain vigilant and guard against any attempt by individuals, groups or clans to subvert the implementation of the agreed political roadmap, ahead of the ending of the transition in Somalia later this month. President Kibaki warned that Kenya will not tolerate anyone bent on derailing, undermining or manipulating the roadmap towards a permanent political settlement in Somalia.
