Presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth wants the process of acquiring the biometric voter registration kits fast tracked to allow enlisting of voters.
Mr Kenneth, who expects to vie on the Kenya National Congress ticket, said Thursday the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) needs to continually update Kenyans on progress made to acquire the kits.
In a statement , the Gatanga MP said IEBC further needs to reassure Kenyans the process will be credible.
He was confident the BVR will improve the voter registration process and ensure a free and fair General Election..
Mr Kenneth urged the government to embrace ICT saying the move will benefit Kenyans including improving efficiency of operations.
“The acceptance of the Biometric Voter Registration kits and the introduction of ICT in Parliament will greatly improve the credibility of elections and improve our legislative process respectively,” Mr Kenneth said.
He said the government’s move “should encourage our young technopreneurs to build the systems that are required to run our government and private institutions".
“The ICT industry has proven it massive potential for creating employment and also providing critical support for our business sector. We shouldn't have to procure solutions from abroad when we have such a large talent pool that has the potential to create them locally,” Mr Kenneth said.

On politics, Mr Kenneth said his campaign team was working tirelessly “as we gear up for the March 4, 2013 election".
“This week, Kenya National Congress has made a call for applications for candidates aspiring for all electoral positions in the forthcoming general election," he said.
Mr Kenneth, who expects to capitalise on youth support and Kenyans in the diaspora to win the presidency, plans to launch a major campaign countrywide in September.
Already, he has visited more than 30 counties to open KNC offices and market himself as best presidential candidate due to his diligent use of Constituency Development Fund in Gatanga, development record and being untainted.
Mr Kenneth says the battle in the coming elections will be between performers and non-performers.
“Kenyans should elect performers and not just noise makers.
"I have been tested and performed in all the positions I have held in private and public sector and my record is there for all to see,” Mr Kenneth said.
The Planning and National Development assistant minister was scheduled to address the PCEA National Youth Congress.
