Thursday August 2, 2012-Presidential hopeful Eugene Wamalwa has compared his presidential bid to that of United States President Barrack Obama in 2008.
Speaking during a show in one of local television on Wednesday, Wamalwa said like Mr Obama who surprised the world and became president of the most powerful country, was a first timer in parliament and was not cowed by what opponents said about inexperience in politics.
“What this country needs is not a political Methusselah but someone who can deliver the change Kenyans have yearned for several years and I believe I have been in the system long enough to bring the change ,” Wamalwa said.
Wamalwa who is also Saboti MP cautioned Kenyans against recycling leaders who had plunged the country into a den of corruption for a long time they have been government and urged them to consider his “fresh and youthful mind”.
He said his recent visits to the homes of President Obama’s relatives in Kogelo and Tom Mboya’s in Rusinga Islands were a tribute to the two men he would like to emulate.
“Tom Mboya was a great leader who died fighting for the rights of Kenyans when still very young and I greatly admire him for that,” Wamalwa who is also the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs said.
He urged people of Central and Nyanza regions to shun ethnic bigotry and vote for somebody outside their regions.
Wamalwa expressed confidence that he will be President Kibaki’s successor when he exits from State House early next year.
