Tuesday August 21, 2012-Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said him and United States President Barrack Obama have been branded Muslims for signing pre-election memorandum and agitating for Muslims rights.

Speaking at Treasury square in Mombasa during the end of Ramadhan on Monday, Raila noted many Muslims are still mistreated by our security agencies despite their fight for the new Constitution.

Raila said he opposes clauses in the draft anti -terrorism Bill that oppresses Muslim community.

“We have been together and we ought to remain united,” Raila said referring to the Muslim community.

“President Obama of US and I have been branded Muslims for signing a pre-election memorandum and agitating for human rights,” Raila added.

On the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) secessionist demands, Raila admitted that historical injustices were committed to people of Coast region by previous regimes, saying his government will meet their demands when he ascends to power next year.

He said Kenyatta’s regime mutilated the “Lancaster Constitution” within a year and unleashed forces of underdevelopment in the area.

“Change of constitution led to concentration of all powers in the presidency and Nairobi hence the start of calls for fresh reforms against the Kenyatta regime, which sought to inherit all the powers of the colonial regime,” Raila said.

He said President Mwai Kibaki is colluding with forces of impunity in mutilating the new Constitution.

“They tried to appoint County Commissioners yet governors are there,” the Premier said.

The PM said he will be the people’s president once he assumes power next year.
