Did ORENGO say this knowing RAILA had joined the LIST?

Wednesday August 15, 2012-Barely hours after Prime Minister Raila Odinga joined the list of presidential aspirants with questionable characters, his legal adviser James Orengo wants the integrity provisions of Chapter Six in the new Constitution be fully enforced.

Orengo, who is the Land Minister, wants those facing criminal and corruption cases barred from vying in the next general election until they clear their names.

Speaking during a head teachers meeting in Nyamira County, Orengo challenged teachers and other professionals to reject tainted leaders.

“If one has serious integrity issues clouding his/her politics, their conscience should prevail upon them to withdraw from the coming elections. But if such individuals remain defiant and try to cheat their way into the ballot, then it is upon you and other informed groups to vote against such characters,” Orengo said.

The Minister’s assertions came barely hours after  his boss Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka  and  Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi were enjoined in a legal suit aiming to bar them from contesting for presidency due to integrity questions until court hear the cases scheduled on September 27.
