A cabinet minister is unhappy that Speaker Kenneth Marende chose August 7 as the day for MPs to move to the refurbished chamber of the House. The minister complained that the ceremony should have been deferred for a day to allow the nation to commemorate  hundreds of Kenyans who died during the 1998 bomb blast. He was shocked that the Speaker didn't even ask MPs for a minute's silent in respect of those who died then while agitating for more freedom and multipartyism that, in a way, may have played a large part in Marende's ascending to the seat of the Speaker of the National Assembly.

The visit to South Africa by a vocal politician has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many in ODM especially coming as rumours of a possible defection of the MP to TNA.
